  • Neutering/Speying Voucher issued if kitten is under 6 months old
  • Micro chipping of all cats and kittens and lifetime registration
  • Flea and worm treatment
  • Full Inoculations for Flu and Enteritis

Testing for FiV (feline HIV) and FeLV (feline leukaemia) is also available on request. Neither of these diseases are transferable to humans.

CONDITIONS OF ADOPTION

Please read the following re-homing policies of the Branch

  • ADOPTION/VIEWING BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. We have no public waiting area and in order to avoid disappointment it is essential to arrange an appointment to view.
  • If you are in RENTED accommodation, we will need WRITTEN proof you are allowed to have a pet cat BEFORE you come to view. Oral authorisation will not be accepted.
  • If you live in a flat/ built up/busy area we will routinely do a home visit to assess the suitability of your accommodation for a pet.
  • We are looking for permanent, life long homes for our cats and we need to be sure you can provide such a home. Therefore we will have to ask questions regards your personal circumstances and your ability to cover the costs of routine and emergency veterinary costs which will become your responsibility.
  • If you work full time/shifts you will only be able to adopt a kitten 5mths+. Younger kittens need small regular feeds and above all else, company. Bear in mind cats live on average to 15 years old so you will have your feline companion for many years.
  • All cats/kittens are temperament assessed therefore some may NOT be suitable to go with young children/other pets.
  • We like all members of the family/household to meet the animal prior to adoption.PETS CANNOT BE ADOPTED AS SURPRISE PRESENTS/GIFTS.
  • Existing family cats MUST be neutered and innoculated.
  • This Branch only re-homes to student households in exceptional circumstances. Most students are in accommodation for term time only and for the duration of their course, therefore providing permanent routine for a pet all year round can prove difficult.
  • If the kitten you adopt is too young to be micro chipped/neutered prior to adoption, you MUST return the kitten to the Branch when old enough for the Id chip to be inserted and provide proof of neutering if not done through Branch.
If you have any further queries regards adoption procedure, please or Tel: 0115 9784965

SMALL ANIMAL AND BIRD ADOPTION

Small Animal Adoption Charges

  • RABBITS
    • Neutered - Price on Application
    • Unneutered - £10
  • GUINEA PIGS
    • Neutered - Price on Application
    • Unneutered - £10

NB Rabbits and Guinea Pigs are best kept in pairs/small groups as they live in communes in the wild. It is better for the health and welfare of the animal if they are neutered.

  • BUDGIES, CANARIES, FINCHES - £5

  • COCKATIELS/LOVEBIRDS/PARAKEETS - £10
    • We prefer birds to be re-homed to a home checked aviary. However after accommodation has been checked and found suitable, we will consider re-homing a bird to a cage.

  • FERRETS
    • Neutered - Price on Application
    • Unneutered - £10

As with rabbits and guinea pigs, it is better for the welfare and health of a pet ferret to be neutered.

  • MICE/RATS/GERBILS/HAMSTERS – Price on Application

CONDITIONS OF ADOPTION

Please read the following re-homing policies of the Branch

  • A Home visitor will need to visit you at home before you can adopt any animal to see if your accommodation is suitable. All small animals will need a suitable hutch/cage/tank and exercise facilities. Pets kept outdoors will need to have ample shelter for hot and cold weather. Animals kept in a cage/tank will need the biggest accommodation affordable.
  • ADOPTION/VIEWING BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. The Nottingham and Notts Branch is small and we unfortunately don’t have a waiting area. Please make an appointment to avoid disappointment at not being able to view.
  • If you are in RENTED accommodation, we will need WRITTEN proof you are allowed to have a pet BEFORE you come to view. Oral authorisation will not be accepted.
  • If you live in a flat/ built up/busy area we will routinely do a home visit to assess the suitability of your accommodation for a pet.
  • We are looking for permanent, life long homes for our animals and we need to be sure you can provide such a home. Therefore we will have to ask questions regards your personal circumstances and your ability to cover the costs of routine and emergency veterinary costs which will become your responsibility. The pet maybe small but the vets bills could be large.
  • This Branch only re-homes to student households in exceptional circumstances. Most students are in accommodation for term time only and for the duration of their course, therefore providing permanent routine for a pet all year round can prove difficult.
THE RSPCA NOTTINGHAM AND NOTTS BRANCH IS OPPOSED TO BREEDING ANIMALS. Every year HUNDREDS of animals have to be destroyed simply because there are not enough homes to go round.
